A woman in Berwyn rented out her unit on a popular vacation rental app – not realizing it would be used by someone else to scam families out of thousands of dollars. CBS 2's Marybel González reports.
Berwyn police said two people got into a fight inside an unspecified business at Cermak Road and Ridgeland Avenue – and it later spilled out into the streets.
The home provides women with a safe place to stay and get back on their feet after tough times.
The former-employee also resigned her seat on a Berwyn school district board.
A Berwyn alderman also apologized on behalf of the city's mayor for a lack of a response to the incident.
The striking tale is spelled out in a police report – all of the events having happened just a block away from City Hall.
