Grifol, 52, has been with the Royals since 2013, including stints as a roving hitting instructor, assistant hitting coach, hitting coach, catching coach, and most recently as bench coach.
"We know our fans are disappointed the event will not take place. Please check back throughout the 2023 baseball season to keep updated regarding future plans," the team announced Friday afternoon.
We will find out the winner in December at Baseball's winter meetings.
