At least 4 killed, 13 wounded in weekend shootings in Chicago

At least four people were killed, and 13 more were injured, in weekend shootings across Chicago as of Sunday, according to police.

The ages of the victims range from 16 to 49.

In the first reported shooting of the weekend, at 12:49 a.m. Saturday, a 49-year-old man was outside in the 8000 block of South Vincennes Avenue when he got into a quarrel with someone he knew in a white car.

The person in the white car shot the man in the right thigh, and the man was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center in critical condition.

At 1:01 a.m. Saturday, a 29-year-old man was shot in the right leg in the 1200 block of South Avers Avenue. He self-transported to Stroger Hospital of Cook County in good condition, and was uncooperative with responding officers.

  • At 2:25 a.m., a 31-year-old man was walking in the 4800 block of West Madison Street when he heard shots and felt pain. He had been shot in the left foot and self-transported to Loretto Hospital in good condition.
  • At 4 a.m., a 32-year-old man walked into Mount Sinai Hospital with a gunshot wound to the right hand. The location and time of the shooting were unknown as of Sunday, as the victim was uncooperative. He was in good condition.
  • At 5:55 a.m., a 16-year-old boy was standing outside in the 6600 block of South Stony Island Avenue when a white vehicle came up and someone inside shot him. The victim was shot in the right knee and was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center in fair condition.
  • At 9:16 p.m., a 34-year-old man was inside a gray sport-utility vehicle in the 6200 block of South May Street when someone came up and shot him. The victim was shot in the abdomen and died at the University of Chicago Medical Center.
  • At 11:01 p.m., a 48-year-old man and two women, ages 43 and 48, were standing outside in the 5400 block of West Fulton Street when they all heard gunshots and felt pain. The older woman was shot in the head and was pronounced dead on the scene. The younger woman suffered a graze wound to the right leg, and the man was shot in the ankle. Both were taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in good condition. At the crime scene, police were seen looking for evidence surrounded by red Solo cups on the ground and other garbage in the street.

  • At 2:40 a.m., a 26-year-old man was driving a white sport-utility vehicle in the 4100 block of South Racine Avenue when he heard gunshots and felt pain. He was shot in the neck and was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center in critical condition.
  • At 3:45 a.m., a man of an unknown age walked into the University of Chicago Medical Center with a gunshot wound to the buttocks, which he had suffered in the 6800 block of South Wolcott Avenue. He was in good condition.
  • At 3:39 a.m., a 25-year-old man was found lying on the ground in the 13100 block of South Langley Avenue with a gunshot wound to his head. He was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he died.
  • At 5:15 a.m., a man was found on the porch of a home in the 8000 block of South Emerald Avenue with two gunshot wounds to the abdomen. He could not provide details of the incident, and he was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in serious condition.
  • At 5:30 a.m., a 17-year-old boy was standing outside in the 4900 block of South Kedzie Avenue when he heard shots and felt pain. He was shot once in the left arm and self-transported to Insight Hospital and Medical Center in fair condition.
  • At 5:45 a.m., two men, ages 27 and 30, were found outside on the ground in the 6100 block of South Campbell Avenue. The older man was shot once in the head and died at the scene, while the younger man suffered multiple gunshot wounds to the torso and was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in critical condition.
  • At 7:05 a.m., a 46-year-old man suffered multiple gunshot wounds to the body in the 7100 block of South Seeley Avenue. He was taken to Holy Cross Hospital in fair condition.

Unless otherwise noted, no arrests or charges were made in the above incidents.
