Shooting on Chicago's West Side leaves woman dead, man and another woman wounded
Three people were shot on Chicago's West Side overnight Saturday into Sunday, and one of them was killed.
On Sunday morning, police were investigating what led to the shooting.
At 11:01 p.m. Saturday, two women and a man were standing outside in the 5400 block of West Fulton Street, near Long Avenue in the South Austin neighborhood, when they heard gunshots and felt pain.
A 48-year-old woman was shot in the head and died at the scene. A 43-year-old woman suffered a graze wound to her right leg and was taken to the emergency room at Mount Sinai Hospital in good condition.
The man in the group, also 48, was shot in the right ankle and was also taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in good condition.
At the crime scene, red and yellow police tape was seen stretched across Fulton Street.
Police were seen looking for evidence surrounded by red Solo cups on the ground and other garbage in the street.
One of the officers was heard over police radio reporting a large group of people at the scene and finding one of the victims.
Harrison Area detectives were investigating the shooting Sunday morning. Police did say some of the shooting was captured on the city's POD camera system, but no one was in custody.
