UIC COVID-19 Vaccine Trial Underway
CHICAGO (CBS)-- The clinical trial of the Moderna coronavirus vaccine is now underway at UIC.
Researchers will test the vaccine on 1,000 volunteers. Half will get the vaccine and half will get the placebo.
Researchers expect to give shots to 20 to 40 people a day. The study aims to find out if the vaccine gives people immunity against the virus.
Participants will be followed for two years.
It's one of many vaccines in development to fight the coronavirus.
