Relatively Cool Today, But Sweltering For Weekend

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Temperatures will be pleasant and cool for the rest of the day Friday, before rising through the weekend and spiking at a sweltering 94 degrees on Sunday.

CBS 2 Meteorologist Ed Curran reports as of 11:20 a.m., it was 75 degrees at O'Hare and Midway international airports, and 69 at Lake Michigan.

Wind was blowing down from the north and will later turn east. Sunshine will continue in the early afternoon, but clouds will later blow in and bring a chance for showers and thunderstorms overnight.

The high for the day is 78, but away from the lake, temperatures will reach the low 80s, with east winds of about 5 to 10 mph.

On Saturday, the high climbs to 84, and on Sunday to 94. On Memorial Day Monday, the high is 89, on Tuesday 78, on Wednesday down to 68, and on Thursday back up to 78 again.
