Chicago Cop Who Fatally Shot 2 People Reassigned To Street By Mistake: Police
(CBS) – A Chicago police officer placed on desk duty after shooting and killing two people during a domestic call last year, was mistakenly put back on street patrol.
Chicago police officials say Officer Robert Rialmo was mistakenly assigned to a summer mobile unit that helps curb violence.
Last December, Rialmo says he fatally shot 19-year-old Quintonio LeGrier at his West Side residence after the teen swung a baseball bat. Neighbor Bettie Jones, 55, was accidentally shot and killed standing in the doorway.
Rialmo later filed a lawsuit against LeGrier's estate, saying the shooting caused him emotional trauma.
Chicago police officials promise disciplinary action, for the administrative error.
