Another hot day before rain relief on Friday in Chicago
CHICAGO (CBS) — Hot, dry weather has led to the development of soil drought conditions across much of the area. Midway has yet to record measurable rain in September.
A decaying complex of showers and storms moves in overnight tonight, likely only leading to some light overnight rain from Chicago westward. Rain is expected to clear the area by Friday morning's commute.
Friday afternoon, a few strong to severe storms may develop mainly from I-55 eastward into northwest Indiana. Storms will remain isolated and not affect all areas.
After a hot, mainly dry Saturday, the first day of autumn brings changes on Sunday. Cooler, wetter weather moves in from a West Coast storm, finally dropping temperatures to seasonable levels in the 70s through next week.
Waves of showers and storms may lead to more than one inch of rain across much of the area by Monday night.
