'Persons Of Interest' Questioned In Triple-Shooting

CHICAGO (STMW) - Detectives are questioning "persons of interest" after at least one person inside a vehicle apparently shot three people in the Englewood neighborhood then fired shots at officers before crashing Friday night on the South Side.

Three males were shot at 9:18 p.m. in the 7200 block of South Paulina Street, said police News Affairs Officer Ronald Gaines, citing preliminary information.

Somebody inside the vehicle then apparently fired shots at officers -- who did not return fire -- before the vehicle crashed nearby, police said.

Fire Media Affairs said three men in their early-20s were initially hospitalized in critical condition with multiple gunshot wounds. Two people were taken to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County and one was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn.

Police said early Saturday that one of the men remained in serious condition, and the other two were in good condition.

One person inside the vehicle was taken to Stroger Hospital after the crash, police said.

No officers were injured.

Detectives are talking to "persons of interest," but no charges have been filed as of early Saturday, Gaines said.

Wentworth Area detectives are investigating.
