Those were impressive rain-makers this afternoon some even contained small hail.
And the trend continues to get better with even a little more sunshine today and slightly warmer temperatures because of it.
I wish it were as easy as flipping a switch but improvements will be slow to come by over the next few days...they are coming though!
Well the atmosphere remains all blocked up so improvements will be subtle and very gradual as we head through the week.

One of the biggest weekends of the year is one day away and while it's not going to be a perfect holiday weekend, all in all it looks pretty good!
It wasn't perfect but it was a heck of a lot better than yesterday as the sun finally returned and temps warmed nicely this afternoon.
Well I certainly wasn't expecting a washout today but a rogue low came closer to New England than expected and soaked us with over a half an inch of rain in spots. That same low is now sliding north and east into the Gulf of Maine and rain will continue to diminish to drizzle as we go through the course of the night.

The utopian weekend weather is a memory as muggy air has returned and along with that comes showers and thunderstorms. We already had a round of soakers move through and although I don't expect more tonight, they will be possible.
We are heading into another fabulous weekend with very dry air, lots of sunshine and for the most part warm temperatures.
It took a few days but we finally shook the unsettled pattern and now for the reward, days of sunny dry conditions!
This muggy and wet pattern holds for one more day before drier air works in for an amazing stretch heading into the weekend.
Now that we are safely past any frost in greater Boston it's officially time to plant this years crop of tender veggies.
It's a new week but it almost looks like a carbon copy of the last...several days with periods of rain or showers.
After a dismal week we are in for a great weekend...we all deserve it!

We really have just scratched the surface as far as rain goes with the heaviest batch still on the way for later tonight and tomorrow morning.
A frontal boundary will stall across the region late tonight and this front will be the focal point for rounds of rain some of which will be heavy.
