Water Main Break Closes Road In South Boston
BOSTON (CBS) - Drivers are being urged to avoid Congress Street in South Boston after a water main break. A National Guard crew working in the area hit a two inch high pressure pipe, causing the break.
Water was seen spraying up to the fifth floor of a building Wednesday afternoon.
As a result of the break, A Street is closed in both directions from Congress Street to Melcher Street. Although Congress Street remains open, drivers are strongly advised to avoid the area.
Six commercial buildings do not have water service as a result of the break.
Crews shut off the water shortly before 4:30pm but repairs will continue into the night.
