Ward With Toucher & Rich: Bruins Have Done It And Washington Hasn't
It all comes down to tonight for the Boston Bruins and Washington Capitals as they face off in a series deciding Game Seven.
Aaron Ward, former Bruin and current hockey analyst on TSN, spoke with Toucher & Rich about the Bruins-Capitals series, Tyler Seguin and Game Sevens.
The B's faced three Game Sevens in last year's playoff run and won them all. Does this experience in elimination games mean anything for the Bruins as they head into tonight's game?
"It's huge because they've done it and Washington hasn't. There's no one on that Washington team that can lay claim to having gone through the experience."
Tyler Seguin was relatively quiet through this series until the team needed to win Game Six. He had an assist on Andrew Ference's third period goal and the game winner in overtime. How much does this help the young player's confidence heading into this big game?
"He's a young guy and he's cool, calm and collected, he's got that consent smile, but I can guarantee you as an athlete it eats you up inside to know that there's a high level of expectation of what suppose to be coming from you."
Even with the past experiences of Game Sevens under their belts, David Krejci said that he still gets really nervous and will be really nervous about tonight's game. Most would think that with the past experiences nervousness should be calmness, but is that always the case?
"You feel that sense of responsibility to your city. You just won a Stanley Cup Final, there's greater pressure on you because you have won and you have that status as the Stanley Cup Champion."
The guys also discussed how the other first round match ups have gone.
