Trooper Hit During Fall River Traffic Stop

FALL RIVER (CBS) -- A state police trooper was hit while at a traffic stop in Fall River Wednesday morning.

Trooper Christopher Kaszyk had pulled over to help a car involved in an accident on Route 24 near the merge from Route 79 when the accident happened.

The trooper was out of his cruiser helping the other driver when Michael Camara, 47, of Swansea, allegedly hit him, throwing him onto the hood of his car. Police say Camara continued on and hit the car involved in the first crash.

Trooper Kaszyk was brought to Charlton Hospital in Fall River where he was treated and released with minor injuries.

No one else was injured in the crash.

Camara has been charged with negligent operation of a motor vehicle.
