Tropical downpours could bring flooding

AP

The storm that dropped a foot or more of rain on some parts of the East Coast finally arrives in southern New England.

The torrential downpours and high winds passed through western and central Massachusetts Friday and slowly moved into the Boston area by midday.

According to WBZ meteorologists, the deluge will continue into the evening commute. Delays and street flooding are possible.

1-to-2 inches of rain are expected to fall by the time it's all over Friday night.  Up to four inches are possible west of Worcester.

Less than an inch is forecast in southeastern Massachusetts.

After the storm clears out after midnight, sunshine will return Saturday with temperatures in the mid 60's.
