Salem State Slashing Suspect Arraigned In Mass.

SALEM (CBS) --- The man accused of slashing two people on board a Salem State University shuttle bus was back in Massachusetts to face charges.

Timothy Wells, 25, of Woburn, was arraigned Tuesday in Salem District Court on assault charges in connection with the September 25th attacks.

Wells was captured several hours after the slashing by police in New York.

He is also charged with two counts of armed assault with intent to murder and two counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.

The woman suffered a laceration to her arm and the driver received a minor puncture wound to the chest.

Neither injury was considered life-threatening.

Judge Michael Uhlarik ordered Wells held without bail pending a dangerousness hearing November 8th.Until then, he was sent to Bridgewater State Hospital for a 20-day mental health evaluation.

Wells is being represented by Attorney Paul Lawton.
