Report: Mankins, Jones Expected To Play Against Texans

BOSTON (CBS) - The Patriots' offensive and defensive lines may be getting big boosts in time for their Monday Night Football showdown with the 11-1 Houston Texans.

According to a report by CSNNE's Mike Giardi, both Logan Mankins and Chandler Jones will be ready to go Monday night against Houston.

"Being told Logan Mankins will play Monday, barring a setback," Giardi Tweeted Thursday afternoon. "Pats plan all along. He'll join Chandler Jones."

Mankins has not played since New England's Week 10 win over the Bills after injuring his left ankle. He had been battling hip and calf injuries to that point.

The offensive line has done a good job keeping quarterback Tom Brady upright in Mankins' absence, but struggled last week in Miami when Brady was sacked a season-high four times by the Dolphins.

Houston ranks third in the NFL with 36 sacks on the season.

Jones, who has six sacks and three forced fumbles in his rookie season, suffered a right ankle injury in Week 11 against the Colts and has not played since.

Both players took part in Wednesday's walk-through at Gillette, and were present at Thursday's practice session. The Patriots first injury report of the week is due out later Thursday afternoon.
