Report: Logan Mankins To Sign Franchise Tender, Arrive To Camp On Time
FOXBORO (CBS) - Pro Bowl guard Logan Mankins will sign his franchise tender and report to training camp on time, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
The 29-year-old Mankins, who last year sat out all of training camp, the preseason, and the first 7 regular season games while holding out, was slapped with the franchise tag before the NFL Lockout in March.
According to WBZ-TV's Levan Reid, Mankins' agent Frank Bauer spoke earlier this morning and said, "Early this morning, Logan spoke with Bill [Belichick] and both are very happy, happy to get started. Logan is looking forward to being with his teammates and coaches, with a fresh start."
The three-time Pro-Bowler was one of the 10 plaintiffs in the antitrust lawsuit filed against the NFL, which was later dropped as the lockout came to an end.
He was a first-round pick by the Patriots in 2005, and has been lauded for both his run- and pass-blocking skills. The Patriots have previously expressed interest in signing Mankins to a long-term deal.
