Report: Bruins Sign Jordan Caron To One-Year, One-Way Deal
BOSTON (CBS) -- The Boston Bruins are giving Jordan Caron another chance in 2014-15.
Boston reportedly signed the 23-year-old winger to a one-year, one-way contract for $600,000 on Wednesday, according to Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports in Montreal.
Caron, who Boston selected 25th overall in 2009, has had a disappointing run in the NHL so far, tallying just 28 points (12 goals and 16 assists) in 123 games played over four seasons. In three seasons with the Providence Bruins of the AHL, Caron scored 27 goals to go with 32 assists in 111 games.
Caron appeared in 35 games for Boston last season, netting just one goal and recording two assists. He set a career-high of seven goals and eight assists in 48 games played in the 2011-12 season.
Bruins general manager Peter Chiarelli said earlier this off-season he was fielding calls about Caron, who he still thinks can be a very good player, and with the restricted free agent now signed to a very cap-friendly deal those calls may pick up again.
