Portsmouth Police Say Car Not Linked To Missing Colorado Girl
PORTSMOUTH, N.H. (CBS) – The car towed from a Portsmouth Wal-Mart Thursday morning is not connected to the disappearance of a girl in Colorado.
Ten-year-old Jessica Ridgeway was last seen walking on her way to school in a Denver suburb on October 5.
The search expanded to New Hampshire Thursday morning when investigators towed an abandoned Buick station wagon with Colorado plates away from a Wal-Mart in Portsmouth.
Police said Thursday afternoon that the car was not connected to the disappearance of Ridgeway.
This development came a day after someone reported seeing a girl who looked like Ridgeway in Maine.
The caller told police the girl was in a station wagon with Colorado plates.
At a brief news conference Thursday, investigators in Westminster, Colorado refused to release any information about a body that was found in a field not far from Ridgeway's house.
Police believe she was abducted and they're confident her parents were not involved.
