Police Officer Stabbed, Teen Shot And Killed In New Bedford
NEW BEDFORD (CBS) - New Bedford Police are investigating an outbreak of violence on Cedar Street that left an officer with the gang task force stabbed, and a teenager shot and killed.
According to the mayor's office, New Bedford Police were patrolling in the Temple Landing development when they came across a group of individuals. An altercation ensued and one of the individuals stabbed a member of the New Bedford Police Department Gang Unit.
Officers then shot the 15-year-old suspect.
The police officer was rushed to Rhode Island Hospital. His condition is not known.
