Police Investigating 3rd Student Death At MIT
CAMBRIDGE (CBS) - A 21-year-old student was found dead at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology on Monday.
At around noon Monday, the body of Brian G. Anderson, a junior, was found in his room at the Next House dorm.
MIT officials said that there's "no strong indication" that Anderson, a native of Redwood Falls, Minnesota, committed suicide.
"As we mourn for (Anderson), I want to ask all members of the MIT community to be proactive in seeking and offering help. This is not the first student death of this year, and so it is even more important than usual that we all come together and take care of each other," said Chancellor Eric Grimson.
Grimson said that despite Anderson's death, there is "no imminent danger to the MIT community."
Anderson was an active member of the MIT wrestling team.
Mass. state police and the Middlesex County District Attorney's office are investigating.
Two other MIT students died earlier this school year. Freshman Satto Tonegawa died in October, while sophomore Nicolas E. Del Castillo died in September.
