65-year-old man arrested for stabbing at Plymouth, Massachusetts Walmart
A 65-year-old man is facing several charges after an apparently random stabbing inside a Walmart in Plymouth, Massachusetts Saturday night.
It happened at the store on Colony Place around 7 p.m. According to the Plymouth Police Department, officers were called to the Walmart after a "disturbance that resulted in a stabbing."
Initially, police released a photo of a person of interest on Sunday. On Monday, police said they had found him and arrested him, but they did not release his name. Police would only say he's 65 years old and from Kingston.
He will be arraigned Tuesday in Plymouth District Court on charges of disorderly conduct, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, and carrying a dangerous weapon during a breach of peace.
Plymouth police said the victim and attacker do not appear to have known each other. They described it as random. Police did not release any additional details about what may have led up to the stabbing.
"We are pleased to learn that the victim is now home and recovering. We remain appreciative of the community's support throughout this investigation," police said in a statement Monday afternoon.
Bystanders may have recorded video of the incident, police said.
Plymouth is about an hour southeast of Boston.
