Patriots Will Carry Over $1.3 Million In Cap Space From 2015
BOSTON (CBS) -- The cap may be crap, but the Patriots will have a little extra room to work with in 2016.
New England will carry over $1.347 million in unused cap space to the 2016 season, the NFL Player's Association announced Thursday. Each team in the NFL can carry over any unused cap space from the prior season under the CBA. The salary cap for the 2016 season will be determined sometime in the next two weeks, with the league's new year beginning on March 9.
The largest carryover amount goes to the Jacksonville Jaguars with $32,774,928, while the Seattle Seahawks have the smallest carryover amount at $11,587. The total carryover amount from 2015 is $203,963,112, with $6.4 million the average amount among the 32 teams.
The Denver Broncos, Los Angeles Rams and New Orleans Saints opted to not carry over the full amount available to them this season. For a full list of this year's carryover amounts, check out the NFLPA's official website.
