Patriots Wilfork Thinking Retirement During Lockout

BOSTON (CBS) -  Patriots nose tackle Vince Wilfork is enjoying his time off during the NFL lockout.

He is enjoying it so much, the thought of retirement has crossed his mind more than a few times.

"This time off you really sit back and think a lot," the eight-year veteran said. "I tell my wife all the time 'I could get used to retirement' and she just gives me a look like 'you're crazy.' At the same time, it's one of the things that does go through your mind."

"Hopefully it can hurry up and get done," Wilfork said of a new CBA among players and owners. "The more we go without the more I lean toward retirement."

Wilfork played all 16 games for the Patriots in 2010 and had a career high 46 solo tackles. Last March he signed a five-year contract extension with New England.

But with the future of the NFL uncertain, Wilfork may decide to just hang up the cleats.

"It does make you sit down and think," he said. "Do you want to sit out a season and come back? I have a beautiful ranch down in Florida. I'm sitting back enjoying my kids down there."

"It makes you wonder, it does make you wonder," said Wilfork.
