Patriots Re-Sign LeGarrette Blount
BOSTON (CBS) -- LeGarrette Blount is back with the Patriots.
The big running back re-signed with New England on Tuesday, as first reported by The Boston Herald's Jeff Howe. The NFL Network's Ian Rapoport is reporting it's a one-year pact between Blount and the Patriots.
The team officially announced the signing in a release Tuesday afternoon, but Blount confirmed it with a Tweet of his own Tuesday morning.
Blount played in 12 games for New England in 2015, rushing for 703 yards and six touchdowns on 165 attempts (4.3 yards per carry). He suffered a hip injury in Week 14 and finished the season on injured reserve.
While his NFL career has been a bit up and down, Blount has enjoyed success while with the Patriots. In 33 games with New England, Blount has rushed for 17 touchdowns while averaging 4.6 yards per carry. Some of his biggest games have come in a Patriots uniform, including a 166-yard, four touchdown showing in New England's 43-22 win over the Indianapolis Colts in the 2014 AFC Championship Game.
Blount's return gives the Patriots a bigger back on the depth chart, which already includes Dion Lewis, James White, Brandon Bolden and Donald Brown.
