Patriots Release Receiver Donald Jones
BOSTON (CBS) -- The competition for a roster spot at wide receiver for the Patriots will have one fewer participant when camp opens, as the team announced Friday that Donald Jones had been released.
Jones, 25, caught 41 passes for 443 yards and four touchdowns for the Bills last year before an undisclosed injury ended his season prematurely. The Bills let Jones become a free agent after the year, and the Patriots signed him to a three-year contract.
With the drafting of Aaron Dobson and Josh Boyce, as well as the signing of veteran Michael Jenkins (as well as competition among the undrafted rookies), Jones didn't figure into the equation for the Patriots.
The Patriots also announced the signings of undrafted rookie wide receivers Perez Ashford and Quentin Sims, adding to the mix.
