Belichick Does Not Bite When Asked About Comments By Garoppolo, Palmer

BOSTON (CBS) -- The two starting quarterbacks in Sunday night's Patriots-Cardinals opener have had no problem sharing their opinions over the last 24 hours. But Bill Belichick doesn't want to discuss either of them as he prepares for the 2016 season.

On Wednesday, Pats QB Jimmy Garoppolo told the media that not having Tom Brady at practice has made it feel like a "smoother operation," given that he and Jacoby Brissett don't have to worry about Brady taking snaps away from them.

Belichick wasn't about to pounce on that "controversy" Thursday when it was his turn to talk to reporters.

"That's his opinion," Belichick said of Garoppolo's comments. "You asked him how he felt, that's how he feels."

Further pressed if he felt practices were indeed smoother, Belichick wouldn't bite.

"When you ask somebody for their opinion, that's their opinion," he said. "So, I'm not going to disagree with Jimmy's opinion because that's how he feels. He's entitled to feel however he does. So, he answered your question. I'm not going to tell you how somebody else feels. That's ridiculous."

Belichick also wouldn't touch on Carson Palmer's comments regarding Brady's suspension, instead using the opportunity to praise the veteran quarterback.

"I didn't see [his comments]. But I mean I have a lot of respect for Carson Palmer. We've known Carson throughout the years, had him out at the Pro Bowl. I really have a lot of respect for Carson and what he has done throughout his career with three different organizations," said Belichick. "I think he's an outstanding person, outstanding quarterback, great competitor and he has had a tremendous career."

If you're trying to bring controversy to Gillette, especially a few days before the start of the new season, Bill Belichick is going to shoot it down.
