One Of Paul Revere's Bells Moved From Westboro To Boston
WESTBOROUGH (AP) -- One of the 23 surviving bells cast by Paul Revere has been moved to a new home at Boston's Old South Meeting House.
The bell was first hung at the Westborough First Baptist Church and called congregants to worship until the church closed in 2007.
The bell was sold to the museum for an undisclosed sum.
The town tried to raise money to buy it, but fell short.
The bell was cast in 1801 and has the words "Revere & Sons" stamped on the side.
It was moved Thursday, and Westborough residents had mixed emotions about it.
Paula Skog, chairwoman of the Westborough Historical Commission, says she's sad to see the bell leaving town but it least it's not going far.
