Nuance Buys Former Rival Vlingo
BOSTON (CBS) - The local company that produces Dragon speech recognition software is buying a Cambridge company that makes apps for the same purpose.
Nuance Communications of Burlington is buying Vlingo, a company it sued earlier this year. The lawsuit alleged that Vlingo violated a Nuance patent.
Nuance President Steve Chambers tells WBZ the two companies have a similar focus.
Vlingo now says it will accelerate its development of mobile applications, services and products for voice interactions.
Financial details were not disclosed.
