Nice Days On The Way
After a pleasant summer day with a bit lower humidity this morning, the next weather maker is moving in with its showery rains this evening. Much of it will be light with patches of moderate to heavy rain migrating through. There is a risk of only isolated lightning and thunder. Once a weak wave disturbance tracks northeastward across southeastern CT, RI then near Boston by dawn, the rain will taper off to spotty mist. So plan on a damp start tomorrow morning with some areas of fog but a slot of drier air should scour out much of the low-level moisture resulting in a brightening sky and spells of sunshine through breaking clouds later in the morning into the afternoon. Warming to 80-85 inland and middle 70s along the coast will spike the instability and trigger a few scattered showers and boomers later in the afternoon. The muggy weather will be shoved seaward as a cold frontal boundary pushes offshore tomorrow evening.
Looking ahead, three delightful days of low humidity will make us happy with nighttime lows of 55-60 except near 65 in Boston and daytime highs of 76-83. You will see sunshine amidst patches of passing puffy clouds Thursday, plentiful sunshine and fewer clouds Friday and sunshine through some high clouds on Saturday. Following this pleasant stretch, an amplifying trough of low pressure approaching the eastern states will capture lots of moisture from the south and initiate a surface storm over the Mid-Atlantic region. Its predicted trajectory escorts the system across NJ Sunday to near or just south of Cape Cod by Monday morning. The scenario unleashes a potential for some heavy rain Sunday afternoon into early Monday. A freshening northeasterly wind is also probable. The storm will slowly shift eastward on Monday so it will likely remain gloomy and damp much of the day with temperatures failing to reach 70 degrees after the lower 70s on Sunday. Thereafter, high pressure is destined to build eastward into the region next Tuesday and Wednesday as the storm tracks out to sea.
Melissa Mack delivers her latest AccuWeather Forecast in the morning and I shall return later in the day for the vacationing Todd Gutner.
Have a good night.
