NH Man Running Boston Marathon Twice

BOSTON (CBS) - One man is running the Boston Marathon twice. Well, sort of.

Bill Nawn of Bedford, New Hampshire, will start at the finish line and run to the start of the marathon in Hopkinton, before turning around and running with the rest of the competitors as they begin. He'll be running a total 52.4 miles.

It's not his first time: this will be double marathon No. 8.

WBZ-TV's Sera Congi reports.

"A lot of people run Boston for great causes, and it really was kind of use a gift I've been given to give back. So, I use the ability to run two Boston Marathons to raise more awareness and hopefully raise more funds for the charities that are meaningful to me," said Nawn.

What will motivate Nawn this time? The memory of his mother, Marion Kerr Nawn.

She passed away from leukemia this past August and, Nawn is running to raise money for the cancer center at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center.

"She'll be with me all the way. Usually, I'll just see her just as we crossed 128. She'd be there on the way out and the way back," said Nawn.

In the end, his 'warm up' for the marathon will be a full marathon.
