NH AG: Beware Of Solicitations On Property Deeds

CONCORD, N.H. (AP) — New Hampshire's attorney general is warning property owners about mailings regarding their deeds.

Attorney General Michael Delaney says the mailings appear to be official government notices recommending that residents get a copy of their deed for a fee of roughly $86. The mailings advertise companies that will provide the property owner with their grant deed and a property profile.

Delaney says such information can be obtained from any of the state's registers of deeds for much less money. He says with deeds so easily and inexpensively attainable, the existence of such companies depends greatly on the public's unfamiliarity with the county registers of deeds offices.
