Nearing The Century Mark
Temperatures have been on the cool side for the majority of June thus far. However, temperatures are skyrocketing today as well as tomorrow! We could shatter the following records...
Today:
Boston: 98 in 1953
Worcester: 93 in 1953
Thursday:
Boston: 95 in 1949
Worcester: 91 in 1953
Summer arrives this evening just past 7 p.m. Along with humid conditions as dewpoints climb into the middle and upper 60s, thermometers will be reading 95-100 today and Thursday.

Sunshine will also prevail. Heat Advisories will take effect at noon today for the majority of our viewing area as heat index values reach 100+ degrees. Also, an Air Quality Alert will take effect later this morning for the South Coast, Cape Cod, and the Islands. A cold front that will be slow to make eastward progress on Friday will be the beginning of the end of this hot stretch. Highs on Friday will be 85-90. The difference will be more clouds as well as showers and storms developing after 11 a.m. We will hold onto the chance for scattered showers and storms through Friday evening.
The cold front is showing signs of getting hung up near southeastern Massachusetts on Friday night.
So, there may be lingering clouds and showers for those neighborhoods through Saturday morning. Otherwise, Saturday should include a sun/cloud combination.
Then, an upper level trough sets allowing for more seasonable to below normal temperatures to return. A second shot of cool air will bring us a chance of evening showers/storms on Sunday, especially for out 'burbs north and west of 495.
Otherwise, Sunday will be dry with partly cloudy skies. Highs will be near 80 on Saturday. Sunday will reach high temps in the upper 70s. The Cape/Islands will be in the 70-75 range this first weekend of Summer '12.
