Motorcyclist Crashes After Hitting 143 Miles Per Hour On Radar
SANBORTON, N.H. (CBS) — A motorcyclist who passed a New Hampshire state trooper at 143 miles per hour is now in the hospital with serious injuries.
Police said 47-year-old Thomas Van Uden of Goffstown sped past the trooper on Interstate 93 in Sanborton around 4:30 p.m. Wednesday and then disappeared "immediately out of sight."
Moments later, the 2003 Kawasaki ZX900 motorcycle crashed into the back of a car.
Van Uden was rushed to Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon. His passenger, a 43-year-old woman from Manchester, was treated for serious injuries at Speare Memorial Hospital in Plymouth.
Police said Van Uden is currently being investigated for aggravated driving while intoxicated, and he will be charged with reckless conduct and disobeying a police officer.
His motorcycle was totaled. The car has significant rear-end damage.
