Mortimer Wants Evidence In Winchester Family Murders Suppressed

WOBURN  (AP) -- The sister-in-law of a Massachusetts man accused of killing his wife, two young children and mother-in-law has described seeing blood inside their house the day their bodies were discovered.

Thomas Mortimer IV is charged in the June 2010 deaths of Laura Stone Mortimer, her 64-year-old mother, Ellen Stone, and the Mortimers' two children, 4-year-old Thomas "Finn" Mortimer V and 2-year-old Charlotte Mortimer.

Deborah Stone Sochat, sister of Laura Stone Mortimer and daughter of Ellen Stone, said at a court hearing Friday she went to their Winchester home after she was unable to reach them.

She said when she looked in the windows, she saw blood on a light switch, wood paneling and on the floor.

Thomas Mortimer is asking a judge to suppress evidence, arguing that police entered the house without a warrant.

Mortimer grew up in Avon, Conn.
