Money Being Raised For Melrose Native Killed In Planned Parenthood Shooting

MELROSE (CBS) -- Nearly $50,000 has been raised for the family of a Melrose native and Colorado police officer killed during an attack at a Planned Parenthood, according to the You Caring website.

Garrett Swasey, a six-year veteran of the University of Colorado – Colorado Springs police officer, was fatally shot Friday after a gunman opened fire, hurting five police officers and four civilians at the clinic. He leaves behind a wife and two young children.

The memorial fund will be used to cover educational costs.

As of Saturday night, more than 800 donations and $47,000 had been raised on the crowdfunding website. The goal is to raise at least $100,000.
