Mom Accused Of Leaving Infant Locked In 117-Degree Car
PORTSMOUTH, N.H. (CBS) - A Maine mother allegedly left her 6-month-old baby in a 117-degree car while she went shopping in Portsmouth, New Hampshire on Saturday morning.
Police charged 32-year-old Renee Ramsey with child endangerment. They believe she left the baby locked inside the car for about 15 minutes.
Officers broke open the car's window and brought the baby to their air-conditioned cruiser. Ramsey then returned to her car about 13 minutes after that, or nearly a half hour after she originally left the baby.
The baby was then taken to Portsmouth Regional Hospital to be checked out, and was then released to the care of the father.
The outside temperature that day in Portsmouth was about 81 degrees at the time.
Ramsey, meanwhile, was released on bail. She is scheduled to be arraigned on Aug. 24 in Portsmouth District Court.
