Lynn Man Won't Serve Jail Time For Underage Party That Led To Deadly Crash

SALEM, Mass. (AP) — A Lynn youth charged with hosting a party where an underage guest drank alcohol and was later involved in a fatal crash has pleaded guilty but will not spend any time behind bars at the request of the victim's mother.

Craig Snow was sentenced Thursday in Salem Superior Court to six months in jail, but it was suspended for two years of probation.

Prosecutors say Snow hosted a party in March 2010 attended by Christopher Maxson and his girlfriend Julia Gauthier, a 19-year-old student at Salem State College. Police say after the party, Maxson was behind the wheel of an SUV that crashed, killing Gauthier.

Prosecutors says Gauthier's mother requested no jail time.

Maxson was convicted of motor vehicle homicide while driving drunk.

Snow's lawyer says his client is remorseful.
