Local Researchers Win Grant For Human Genome

BOSTON (CBS) - Brigham and Women's hospital and a team of 40 Boston scientists will launch the next chapter in understanding the human genome.

Brigham and Women's has landed a $10 million federal grant to apply individual medical sequencing to the practice of medicine.

Study director Dr. Robert Green says he expects the study to be controversial, since the genome may hold incidental findings that show individual patients have a predisposition to major diseases.
