Latest Fact Sheet On Hurricane Irene For Mass. & NH

BOSTON (CBS/AP)- A still-dangerous Hurricane Irene lost a bit of steam as it barreled up the East Coast Saturday.

Here's the latest update for Massachusetts and New Hampshire.

MASSACHUSETTS
-- Irene predicted to make landfall in southern New England on Sunday.
-- Hurricane warnings issued for South Coast, Cape Cod and Islands. Hurricane watch in effect for the coastline to the mouth of the Merrimack River.
-- Tropical Storm warning for rest of Massachusetts
-- Forecasts placed the storm's track through central Massachusetts.
-- Irene's projected track mimics 1985 Hurricane Gloria.
-- The governor and president declared a state of emergency. The governor deployed 2,000 more National Guard troops in addition to the 500 deployed Friday.
-- Mandatory evacuations have not been ordered.
-- Six emergency shelters on the Cape and nine throughout the state are open
-- The US Army Corps of Engineers will determine whether to close the Cape Cod Bridges based on sustained wind strength.
-- The State Police have deployed four amphibious tracked Small Unit Support Vehicles (SUS-Vs) to areas across the state. SUS-Vs can traverse dangerous and flooded terrain and will be effective in reaching residents of flooded areas.
-- State Police have moved four boats from its Marine Unit in Boston to General Headquarters in Framingham. These vessels are trailered and hitched to trucks ready for deployment to any severely affected area.
-- The State Police Air Wing will be available at the earliest opportunity on Monday to begin damage assessment and video recording.
-- Red Cross is positioning emergency response vehicles, mobilizing disaster workers and preparing supplies.
--The USPS has suspended some service. Their statement: "In anticipation of the arrival of Hurricane Irene, the US Postal Service will temporarily suspend Express Mail service on Sunday August 28 in the Boston metro area. For further information on this temporary suspension, please call 1-800-ASK-USPS or log onto our website, www.usps.com."
-- Last hurricane to hit was Bob in 1991.
-- The governor is urging residents with non-emergency questions, including those about shelter locations to call 2-1-1 or click here.
NEW HAMPSHIRE
-- Forecasters predict Irene to reach northern New England Sunday night.
-- Heavy rain expected to start Saturday night. Potential for flooding rains and gusty winds.
-- No evacuations planned since path uncertain.
-- Governor directed state Emergency Operations Center to be opened.
-- Organizers of the annual Hampton Beach Talent Competition condensed the three-night schedule to two, telling competitors "it's one song for all the marbles."
--The Red Cross has opened four shelters in NH
