Judge Temporarily Blocks Boston Globe Sale To John Henry
WORCESTER (CBS/AP) - A Superior Court judge has issued a temporary restraining order that's stalled the proposed sale of The Boston Globe to Red Sox owner John Henry.
That's according to a report in the Worcester Telegram & Gazette, which Henry is also purchasing in a package deal with the Globe from the New York Times for $70 million.
Worcester Superior Court Judge Shannon Frison issued the order in connection with a class action lawsuit filed against the Telegram by independent carriers of the newspaper.

The carriers claim they should be treated like employees, but instead have been misclassified as independent contractors.
As a result, they claim any settlement would be jeopardized if the sale closed Friday.
The Times argued the newspaper carriers should have access only to the Telegram's assets.
But attorneys for the carriers want the restraining order blocking the sale held in place until they can determine how much the Telegram is worth.
Judge Frison said she will have a decision on her restraining order Wednesday.
