Judge Extends Curfew For Teen Who Crashed Car Into School Bus In Kingston

KINGSTON (CBS) - A teenager who crashed her BMW last March when she crossed the double yellow line and collided head-on with a school bus in Kingston, is getting her curfew extended.

Seventeen-year-old Monica Knight was back in court on Tuesday asking a judge to allow her an extra hour of free time in order to accommodate her work schedule.

Knight's three passengers, all friends, were seriously injured in the crash.

One of them, Eva Lipton, is still in critical condition.

A second one, Brendan McGilley has returned to school, although still in a lot of pain and suffering some cognitive difficulties, according to his mother, Marianne Caputo.

"He's slowly coming along," she told WBZ-TV. "But he's still in a lot of pain, and having some trouble concentrating. And emotionally, it's tough. But I'm praying for him, and the other victims, too."

The judge did grant Knight's request, allowing her to stay out until 11 p.m. in case she has to work longer at Stop n Shop.
