Jay Talking Travel Photo Of the Day: Alps In Chamonix, France
When I go to France I don't really spend any time is Paris, as it just doesn't resonate with me. I prefer to go directly to the train station and be in the Alps within four of five hours. The TGV goes via Leon. The photo really conveys the quality of air, light, distance and height the Alps present. I took a train up to the location in the photo and most of the way down. Walking the last portion of the descent was a mistake. It was so steep that strenuous that I had to walk backwards. It was brutal. At the bottom was a cool alpine slide of the type on Mt. Cranmore.
You can continue by train through the Alps to Milan in Italy.
