Heavy rain causing minor flood problems

Two-and-a-half inches of rain fell over about 12 hours in the Boston area with the heaviest precipitation coming down during the morning commute.

The National Weather Service in Taunton issued a flood advisory for much of eastern Massachusetts up until 2 p.m.

In Somerville the public safety building, which already flooded once this summer, endured the same fate all over again, albeit to a lesser extent.

Many low-lying areas saw some minor flooding.

State troopers responded to a disabled motor vehicle on Storrow Drive inbound by Mass Avenue - diverting traffic around a flooded area of that stretch of road.

Route 16 in the vicinity of Route 1 was flooded as was Route 1A north at Route 145 in East Boston.
