Gronkowski Adjusting To Life Under Public Microscope

BOSTON (CBS) -- From the moment he stepped onto the field in preseason games for the Patriots in 2010, Rob Gronkowski began establishing his legend in New England. Since then, he's become a national celebrity.

With that fame, though, comes a lot more attention, not all of which is exactly desired. Cameras catch Gronkowski partying and enjoying his life as a 22-year-old millionaire, and the photos often end up shared all over the Internet. Though it may have been hard to notice, Gronkowski said he's working to adjust.

"It just comes with the nature of the territory of your job," Gronkowski told Jimmy Traina on the SI Hot Clicks Podcast. "It definitely changes the lifestyle of how you live, for sure, because everyone's watching."

Of course, publicity isn't all bad, as his newfound fame has Gronkowski as a favorite to land on the cover of Madden this summer.

"I'm just honored to be in the running. There's so many great players in the running for it," he said on the podcast. "I really don't care that much it would just be a cool honor if it happened. I mean you're on the front cover of Madden, so that's pretty cool."

Gronkowski was also asked if the popularity of his spikes caught him by surprise.

"I wasn't expecting that at all," he said. "That's pretty wild. I just always wanted to do it in high school and college but you weren't allowed to. Just coming to the NFL, I just thought it would go good with my nature, just spiking it down, hardcore. I always wanted to do it, and it just caught on, so it's definitely pretty cool."
