Gresh & Zo: Soderberg's Physicality On Full Display Against Detroit
BOSTON (CBS) - Carl Soderberg has taken on the role of Andy Gresh and Scott Zolak's favorite Bruin, replacing Kaspars "The Dog Man" Daugavins from last year.
Towards the end of the regular season Soderberg really caught fire, as his scoring production increased and he became quite physical. Soderberg has carried his torrid play over into the playoffs and has looked dominant according to Gresh.
His first point of the playoffs this season was registered last night on an assist to Milan Lucic, but that one point does not begin to define how the Swede's playoffs have been.
Both Gresh and Zo have been impressed with Soderberg's physicality.
"In the second, third period and even into overtime, Soderberg was all over the ice. And you know what you're starting to see out of him? More physicality, you're seeing him knock guys off the puck," said Gresh.
It's true that Soderberg has been one of the more dominant players on the ice this series. Tune into any game and you'll see him using his size to win battles in the corners or keeping possession of the puck as he distributes dimes to his teammates.
"He's creating chances for himself," says Zo, "This guy is going to get rebounds, he's going to block vision in front of the net."
Zo added that he's thoroughly impressed with how Soderberg maneuvers around the ice given his size. Soderberg's physicality and sleek skating will be fun to watch as the playoffs continue.
For Gresh, "It looks like every time Carl Soderberg gets the puck he has a better idea of what he is going to do with it."
Soderberg's emergence has been a big reason why the Bruins are up 3-1 in the series with the Detroit Red Wings. As the Bruins make their run deeper into the playoffs, it's important Soderberg continues to play as well as he has.
