'Firepot' Gel Maker Announces Recall Following Several Burn Incidents
BOSTON (CBS) - A company that makes fuel for popular 'firepots' is recalling its gels.
Many people use the outdoor candles to keep bugs away.
But, as WBZ-TV reported on Tuesday, these 'firepots' have been linked to at least 37 incidents nationwide, including about two dozen cases that left people with burns, some of them serious.
Last weekend, a Marshfield woman's clothes caught fire as her friend was refilling one of these firepots.
The problem is the flame created by FIREGEL and NAPAfire is invisible.
Many people don't realize it's there.
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission says the company's voluntary recall consists of about 460,000 bottles and jugs.
The popular product was being sold at Bed Bath & Beyond, Shopko, Restoration Hardware, specialty and gift shops, furniture stores, and home and garden stores nationwide, as well as on Amazon.com, in home and garden catalogs, and through home decorators and landscape architects.
If you purchased one of these firepots, you can return it for a full refund.
