Felger & Mazz: NBA Protecting The Referees?
In a recent development, NBA referee William Spooner dropped a lawsuit against the Associated Press regarding a tweet sent out by one of its Minneapolis reporters. The AP reporter, Jon Krawczynski, allegedly overheard Spooner saying to Timberwolves coach Kurt Rambis "he'd 'get it back" after a bad call.
Did the NBA ask Spooner to drop the lawsuit to protect the NBA officiating? Shouldn't the NBA have allowed the lawsuit to go through if in fact they believed the reporter was false? What's your take?
