FBI Director Says US Prepared For Tsarnaev Trial

BOSTON (AP) — FBI Director James Comey says he believes authorities are well prepared to provide security for the terrorism trial of Boston Marathon bombing suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev.

During a visit to the Boston FBI office Tuesday, Comey said the U.S. has had trials for accused terror suspects in New York, Chicago and Northern Virginia, and has "a pretty good handle" on providing security.

Comey refused to answer questions about the investigation of Tsarnaev and his brother, Tamerlan, who authorities say placed two bombs near the finish line of the 2013 marathon. Three people were killed and more than 260 injured in the blasts.

Dzhokhar Tsarnaev's trial is scheduled to begin in January at the federal courthouse in Boston. He could face the death penalty if convicted. Tamerlan Tsarnaev died following a shootout with police several days after the bombings.
