Everett High School Football Player Stabbed

EVERETT (CBS/AP) -- An Everett high school football player was stabbed over the weekend, just hours after he scored the go-ahead touchdown in a game.

Running back Marvens Fedna, 16, was stabbed in the back and hand early Sunday morning in front of the Everett Credit Union on Broadway.

School Superintendent Frederick Foresteire said Fedna was walking home from a party with some friends at the time of the attack.

Fedna was rushed to Massachusetts General Hospital where he underwent surgery and was reported to be in critical but stable condition.

His 1-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter Saturday gave Everett a 12-7 upset win over St. John's Prep.

The incident is not believed to be related to the game.

No other information is available at this point in the investigation.
